Skills and Experience
A minimum of 7+ years of production DBA experience with SQL server 2000 databases is required. Relevant Certifications are highly desirable. Will be responsible for extensive application/SQL server monitoring, troubleshooting, tuning, and high-availability strategies in a MS Windows 2000 & 2003 / SQL Server 2000, 24 X 7, production environment. Must have knowledge/experience on migrating to SQL server 2005.

• Experience in SQL Server Log shipping, Replication, and Clustering is required
• Experience in Windows Scripting, automating SQL server and MS-Analysis Server jobs using DTS is required
• Possess enough experience in Windows administration to support the SQL-server installations
• Possess some experience in storage sub-systems such as SAN (preferably EMC), NAS, and different RAID levels
• Some experience/knowledge about administering Oracle 9i or 10g, Linux (SuSE) basics, scripting languages such as shell scripting, PERL, AWK, KSH, CSH etc. is desirable
• Any experience with managing large data warehouses (~ 1 TB) is a plus

Job Duties

• Ensure all database environments (Development, QA and Production) are in sync
• Install, configure, and manage instances, upgrades and new releases
• Research, plan, and apply patches and bug-fixes
• Perform routine monitoring, maintenance, back-up, and recovery operations
• Fine tune databases, applications, and scheduled jobs to maximize performance
• Analyze storage and memory usage on a routine basis
• Perform capacity planning for hardware and software components
• Evaluate DBA related software and tools including upgrades and new versions
• Participate in disaster recovery planning, exercises, and implementation
• Manage vendors and licenses
• Provide On call and rotational assignment support
• Develop and maintain clear, precise, and thorough operational procedures addressing the maintenance, monitoring, and administration of all production databases within area of assigned responsibility, ensuring procedures exist prior to production implementation of new systems
• Ensure conformance with IT systems, Company standards, Company business continuity plans, and best practices
